Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated by American culture. That curiosity led me to study abroad, build a career in the U.S., and become a licensed mental health counselor.
I spent 11 years living in four different states, meeting incredible people and building a life that changed me deeply. Part of me will always cherish what I created there.
After returning to Japan in 2010, I experienced reverse culture shock and sometimes felt out of place in my own country. Over time, I began to rediscover Japan, its culture, its people, and forms of connection I had once overlooked.
Living between cultures made me think more deeply about how I wanted to live, what I wanted to keep, and who I was becoming.
For more than 20 years, I have worked as a psychotherapist. What has stayed with me most is the privilege of witnessing people change, grow, rebuild, and sometimes surprise themselves.
After co-founding and running a group private practice, I wanted to create something beyond my usual psychotherapy work.
That is how Thrive Life Design was born.
At its heart is a simple belief:
I believe we all have the capacity to design a thriving life that feels intentional, alive, and deeply our own.
When I use the word thrive, I think of 繁栄 (hannei) in Japanese. To me, it means flourishing, like a seed becoming a tree, growing steadily, spreading outward, and eventually becoming part of something larger.
I am especially interested in how each individual life continues to grow and thrive, and how that growth can then create something bigger.
I do not think a thriving life looks the same for everyone.
Sometimes it means movement. Sometimes stillness.
Sometimes it means making a bold decision, creating something new, or finally hearing what you already know.
Thrive Life Design brings together psychology, reflection, intuition, creativity, curiosity, and a belief in human possibility.
On a personal note, I am an ambivert who leans introverted. I am a deep thinker, an observer, and an emotionally intuitive person. I am also a visionary, a builder, and a dreamer.
Since 2011, I have been serving international communities in Japan. I understand both the joys and challenges of living between cultures and creating a life that feels truly your own.
My values here are transformation, creativity, intuition, freedom, curiosity, hope, calm, flexibility, and peace.
I believe a thriving life is not something we simply find.
It is something we continue to shape, build, and grow into.
